Sam Phelps
Regional Information Officer for Southern Africa
Sam Phelps is the regional information officer for central Africa for Catholic Relief Services. He serves as the point person for media, actively connecting journalists with engaging stories about CRS’ work throughout the region. Operating out of Marseille, France, Sam travels throughout the nations of central Africa to report in-depth stories on a wide range of issues, including sustainable growth and capacity building, health and peacebuilding.
As a freelance photographer, Sam previously worked with CRS in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea and other places over the last several years. He brings 15 years working within media production, the last eight as a photographer focused on journalism and communications in Pakistan and West Africa.
