Farmers to Migrant Labor: Be My Guest—Workers

The number of U.S. farm workers is dwindling, costing billions of dollars and jeopardizing our homegrown food supply. The Independent Agricultural Workers Center (CITA), a CRS-sponsored organization in Yuma, Arizona, is easing the shortage by providing documented Mexican farm labor. Funded by the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, the program matches workers from Mexico with legal, temporary work in the United States and helps employers navigate the often cumbersome H-2A temporary agricultural program. The recruitment system improves legal migration into the United States by helping hardworking Mexicans find jobs—and under good working conditions. Meet some of the program's workers, employers and advocates.
